Holi, the festival of colours is round the corner and we all excited, specially kids.. I am very sure your kids have already started the shopping of various colours, pichkaris, etc.. It believes that, Holi festival is very auspicious since the time of Lord Krishna but in the other hand, it is one of the dangerous festival these days after Diwali... One should be definitely careful regarding the chemical colours available now in market ... Kids are always very excited about holi than adults, hence we have to take special care of them... Here I am going to share few tips, hope this will help you to make this Holi safe for your kids...

1- Dressed Properly : Make your kids wear full pants and full sleeve shirts just to protect their sensitive skin from harmful chemicals..
2- Prepare Well : Apply a good moisturiser /oil all over the body to make sure no colour will stick to skin... I prefer oil than any cream... Don't forget to oil their hair properly.. In this way we can prevent their hair and skin from the chemical colours and can avoid any measure skin allergies..
3- Use Organic Colours & No water Balloons:
If possible avoid the chemical colours available in market.. You can go for natural organic colours for kids.. Gel based colours are really good as compared to powder colours, because gel colours are soft on skin and easy to wash off and can't be inhaled. And please don't allow your kids to use water balloons.. It might be fun but sometimes it is very dangerous for ear and eye...
4- Tell About Pichkari : It is very necessary to teach kids regarding the uses of pichkaris.. You should teach them to use pichkari away from other's face, ear and eyes...
5- Keep An Eye On Your Kid : Always keep an eye on your kids while they are playing holi, especially if there is any big drum or tub filled with colour water... Kids may fall inside while playing...
6- Prevent Applying Colours Near Mouth : Just keep colours away from mouth and teach your child to not apply colours forcefully on anyone's face... As the colours have so many harmful chemicals, it may cause severe issues... There are teeth masks available in market which is meant for protecting teeth from staining which generally occurs during holi...
7- Protect Eyes : Don't forget to put a pair of transparent glasses on eyes, in this way we can protect eyes from direct contact of harmful colours/ water. If by chance any colour goes into the kid's eyes, just wash the eyes with plenty of clean water and don't rub... If the kid feels any burning or irritations in eyes, then rush to the doctor immediately.
8- Stay Hydrated : Keep your kids hydrated through out the time.. Don't allow them to play under direct sun light. And it is more important that, make sure to give them clean water each time..
9- Say NO To Post-celebration : As soon as the Holi play will finish ,give your kid a nice warm bath and make sure to remove all stains of colour... Don't rub much, just apply a mild cleanser with warm water..
10- Be Ready For Any Emergency : Keep ready few emergency contacts like your pediatrician, nearest hospital, ambulance, etc...
And at last, it is very important to teach kids to not waist much water because water is life...
