Eyeshadow can be a little daunting task especially if you’re an amateur in the world of makeup and grooming. But you have so many options to choose from- from different colours to brushes. Fortunately, even if you're new to makeup, selecting and applying eyeshadow is quite simple. You can go for a natural eyeshadow look for everyday makeup that you can put on for your work outfit or for lunch with friends. If you're looking for a more dramatic look for a night out, you can try a basic smokey eye, which just takes a few minutes to make! However, you can get your hands on a mini eyeshadow kit to get your hands on applying eyeshadow perfectly to your eyes.
But let’s have a look at how you can apply eyeshadow step by step to become an expert in this art.
Step 1: Create A Natural Eyeshadow Look
For the very first step, you will need to decide whether you want to go for neutral colour or a darker colour eyeshade. While you can use any colour you choose, a neutral shade compliments your look than darker ones.
Use a foundation shade darker than your skin tone if you have fair skin. If your complexion is darker, use a colour that is a shade lighter to ensure that it stands out.
Suppose you have fair skin tone, a champagne or light beige eyeshadow as a foundation colour and a light brown or taupe eyeshadow as a second hue would be appropriate. If you have a darker complexion, use a caramel tone as a base and a dark copper shade as an accent.
Step 2: It’s Time To Apply The Eyeshadow

The second step is to hold your eyeshadow brush in your dominant hand between your thumb, index finger, and middle finger. Then lightly brush the bristles across the base colour to pick up some of the pigment on the brush. Start with minimal product and build-up, but don't press the brush too hard into the eyeshadow colours.
Step 3: Remove Excess Powder
Little particles of eyeshadow powder can get snagged on the surface of your brush from time to time. This may result in a skewed application. To avoid this, gently tap the brush head, beginning at the lash line and working your way up to the brow. Apply a little extra eyeshadow to the brush if necessary to ensure an even colour. But make sure the colour is concentrated along your lash line.
Step 5: Dust-Off The Excess Darker Powder
Now sweep your brush across your deeper colour once you apply the base eyeshadow colour. Try to use less of the darker eyeshadow because it will often show up better than the base colour.
Step 6: Apply Dark Shadow In The Crease Between Your Brow Bone And Eyelid
Sweep the brush in a half circle shape from the outside corner of eye to the crease of your eyelid, about 3/4 of the way down. However, do not apply the dark shade to the very inner corner of your eye, since this will make your eyes appear smaller. Make sure there are no hard lines where the colour ends. If you have hooded eyes, apply the darker shade slightly above the crease to make your top lids appear larger.
Step 7: Apply Mascara To Define Your Lashes

Now the last step would be to apply a coat of mascara to combat this. To remove any excess mascara, brush the side of the wand against the tube, then hold the mascara wand at the base of your lashes and twist it gently. Sweep the brush up the length of your lashes all the way to the tip to finish. However, Brown mascara will look the most natural if your lashes are lighter in tone. Choose black if your lashes are darker. You can also use clear mascara to define your lashes without adding colour for an even more natural look.
